Board of directors

His Eyes operates as a 501c3 in the United States and is legally recognized in Honduras as Sus Ojos (His Eyes in Spanish.)  Our ultimate authority is of course God, but here on earth the mission is blessed to have a board of directors that oversees all decisions and finances.  We are all grateful to their involvement which goes much beyond simply serving as a board member, and directly overseeing the executive director.
Current President of the board is Dr. Aaron Frey. Dr. Frey is an optometrist working in the US who also has experience serving internationally, and has been involved in short term trips to Honduras since 1996 and serving on the board since 2012.
Brittany has been on the board since 2022. She is an optometrist who has made several trips to Honduras, including interning in the clinic seeing patients for many weeks at a time. She is fluent in Spanish and has a love for Christ as well as optometry and helping people everywhere.
Jamie Stuber has been on the board since 2017 Jamie holds a bachelor’s degree in Engineering. He enjoys time with his family, hiking and running, and helping at his church where he is an elder and chairman of the missions team. Jamie first visited His Eyes in Honduras in 2005 and has been blessed to go back several times since.
Current Secretary is Denise Hamilton Denise has been involved with His Eyes coming on short term trips since 2005, and has served on the board of directors since 2016. Denise adds: It always amazes me how God directs our paths. Going to Honduras was not in my plans. I had signed up for a mission trip to Haiti, but because of unrest there our trip was cancelled. Our missions minister had just returned from a scouting trip to His Eyes Honduras and suggested we go there. That was in 2005 and the rest is history! From the very beginning of the week spent with Felipe and Valerie Colby, I knew this mission was special. The relationships that Felipe and Valerie had with the Honduran people were undeniable. Felipe planned each day with purpose, to be God’s hands and feet and show His love. From a construction project working beside local men, to clothing and/or food distribution in communities with great need, to visiting sick children in the hospital (who are sometimes there for months at a time with family members unable to be with them because they live hours away and have to work or have other children to care for), to the Milk Project that began as a way to provide a meal once a week for the neediest children in the neighborhood surrounding the clinic, these are just some of the ways His Eyes impacts the communities in Honduras. Valerie’s work in the clinic as an eye doctor, along with the other medical staff, work to not only treat the patient’s physical needs but also their spiritual needs. My life was forever changed from that first trip to His Eyes, compelling me to return multiple times to serve with the Colby Family, and to become one of their biggest cheerleaders! It has been amazing to see how God has grown the ministry over the years with church plants, the coffee ministry, and the expansion of the Milk Project. It was an honor when I was asked to become a member of Board of Directors in 2016, and I am happy to continue encouraging and supporting His Eyes and the Colby’s through this impactful ministry. I am so thankful that God directed my path to Honduras, and I can’t wait to see what He will do next through His Eyes! -Denise Hamilton
Current Vice President is Mike Wilkins. Mike has been on the board since 2017 and serves with Outlook Christian Church in McCordsville Indiana.
Current Treasurer is Steve Sweeney Steve has been involved coming on short term trips since 2007, and has been serving on the board since 2016. Steve adds: I was accidentally introduced to HisEyes in 2006. I was youth minister and had kids at a Christ in Youth conference. Looking to add to our mission opportunities, I was interested in something in Western Europe. Ireland to be specific, mostly because my name is Irish….and they speak English. CIY offered experiences to many missions serving around the world and His Eyes/the Colbys were part of that list. It was cheaper than the others and looked okay, so that’s were we headed in 2007. I was immediately smitten with the work there. While the kids in the group were all excited to ride in the back of the vehicles as we traveled to the various ministry locations, I was with Felipe in the cab hearing more and more about His Eyes and the heart of the many people who work that field. I knew then that His Eyes and Valerie & Felipe Colby would be long term connections. I’ve been so impressed from the start by the leadership the Colbys offer and the best run ministry I’ve seen. God has revealed doors of opportunity for ministry and they have been brave enough to pass through. I’ve taken several groups of students and adults on short term trips to Tegucigalpa and have traveled there attempting to encourage the Colbys as well. Funny how it’s always me that comes away refreshed. When I was asked about interest in serving on the board, I was happy to say yes to helping how I can. It’s inspiring to see what started as a mobile eye clinic become a multifaceted outreach serving through a full service clinic (medical, dental, optical) clothing ministry, food distribution, several churches planted, Milk Project, employment opportunities…etc! Yet the humble spirit that Felipe and Valerie both have know from where their gifts and abilities come. You hear a lot about servant leadership from books, the web and “thought leaders.” If you want to see it for real, come to Honduras!
