Greetings in Christ,

As many of you know, the His Eyes board of directors has been prayerfully talking, strategizing, and planning, not only in reaction to the continued growth of the mission, but also in long term planning for the future.  Some of the fruit of all this is already in place in policies, hiring, and bigger philosophy discussions with the staff.

2026 will bring a big change to our leadership structure.  We will be saying goodbye to Oscar Mora, missionary from Costa Rica who has lived in Honduras since 1992, and worked with His Eyes since 1999.  The board has taken the difficult, but necessary step for the long term future and growth of His Eyes.  This is not something we are entering into lightly, and something discussed for well over five years.

Oscar’s health became a huge concern shortly after those initial discussions, so we tabled the decision at that time.  His health has been stable over the past two years, and the conversation came up again as a part of a larger set of decisions, and the decision was made.  In cases like this, there is no “good” time to say goodbye, but we have peace that this is the right timing.  We trust that God will show Oscar, Julia and their family the path He has for them going forward.

The board has talked with Oscar and also the entire staff various times over the past years about transition and long-term changes.  In June of 2025 the board let Oscar know he would not be working in the mission as of January 1, 2026.

As Oscar and his family have looked forward and have sought new employment opportunities, His Eyes is also planning on further help going forward. We will be helping fund his Costa Rica retirement fund until he turns 60, his health insurance through the mission will continue until he is 60, they will be able to continue to visit the clinic as they do now, and we will be helping them with funds to get through 2026 as they continue to pray and weigh on whether they will be staying in Honduras long term, going to Costa Rica, Panama or elsewhere.

We ask for your prayers for God’s direction for them, as well as for His Eyes taking this step. In addition, we are asking for help in giving Oscar and Julia’s family a special donation for their son and daughter’s education in the coming years, and some extra security.  This special donation will be passed directly to Oscar and his family.
If you prayerfully feel led to help, we have created a special link  HERE  for such donations, so that every one will be added up and the total deposited to them in January 2026.  We hope that this one time donation of love will encourage and support Oscar and Julia and will allow them options for college that they may not have otherwise been able to consider for both Nadir and Darlenys.

If you have any questions about this decision, and the greater overall plan as it stands for the mission going forward, please feel free to reach out to me, or also directly to any of the His Eyes board members here:
